Stormy Weather

We were quite lucky here at home, no damage at all from the storm, no power failures. Many weren't as lucky I'm sure. There was a lot of rain on Friday. I went out in the early afternoon for a quick trip across town to Elizabeth's. Had to check the local storm canal, or whatever it's called.
Never have I seen more than puddles in there. We used to walk past this on the way to the elementary school, lo those many years ago. I never consider my neighborhood vulnerable to flooding, but clearly that's probably naive, although we're uphill from here.

On my way I encountered a road closure! Never saw that before either. Bret and I went out on Saturday but couldn't see any reason for it, no tree damage and no sign of flooding.

The hills were dusted with snow Saturday which is always beautiful. If I saw this in a photo I would never suspect that it was my own town.

The saddest thing I saw was at the entry of Alden Lane.

I hope you're all safe and warm my sweet peoples. Have a good week!

It's always a pity to lose so many big old trees during a storm. That Alden Lane one will be missed by many I imagine.

How awful that they lost that big tree. I bet it was beautiful. You just dont see trees that big and beautiful in California. Well not here in southern ca. LOL!! I love trees.
We got lots of rain yesterday again. Rained pretty hard too.
Stay dry over there and have a great day!!

Oh no! Not the nursery. They have the most beautiful old oak trees there.

What a shocker to see that Alden Lane tree like that. It's been there since I was a kid (and long before that) and I can't imagine the nursery without it. Yes, we had snow on Mt Diablo.

It is sad to see the big trees downed in a storm... don't know why but I always feel as bad for the tree as I do for the people who have to deal with it! LOL! Our whole neighborhood looks different after this storm. We'll have to have a spring planting block party!

I can't believe that beautiful tree came down. What a heart breaker. That is a loss everyone can relate to. I was driving back from town on Sunday and saw the snow on your mountains! What a surprise that was. Thanks for the pictures. Glad you and Elizabeth are fine.

Yikes, that looks like it was a very nice old tree. Lucky for we we only lost power for about a day, but no trees were lost very locally. My first visit to your blog after reading about you in a magazine. Rockin!

Oh gosh, I'm glad you're all ok. That poor tree. In the bad storm that just hit the Northwest, one of Oregon's oldest trees got demolished. They don't know if it will survive. So sad.
